Green Smoothie Recipe

If you follow me on Instagram then you'll know I've become really into my green smoothies. When I first started making smoothies a few years ago they would be made of only fruits, as I liked them really sweet. I still love a fruity smoothie but thought it would be a good idea to introduce more vegetables into the mix to reduce my sugar intake.

I know some people are really put off by having a bright green drink. However my thinking is green is a natural colour full of goodness - so the greener the better! I've been loving this little recipe first thing in the morning. Recently I've been making it the night before and leaving in the fridge.

Lee's mum recently bought me the Breville Blend Active, I've only used it a few times but so far I'm really loving the results. If you are on the look out for a blender, It's a more affordable alternative to the Nutribullet. The best part about the Blend Active is the bottle, you can remove the blades and pop the lid on which means less washing up and great when you're on the go.

I guess I'd better get on with the recipe as that's what you came here for.
You're going to need:
  • A handful of spinach leaves (I use frozen)
  • A handful of Kale (I use frozen)
  • 1 Apple
  • 1/2 a lemon
  • A slice of ginger
  • Water
1. Chop the apple into chunks, cut the lemon in half and slice off a piece of ginger
2. Add all the ingredients (except the lemon) to the blender
3. Squeeze in the lemon and add water - if you like a more thick consistently then add less water
4. Blend all the ingredients together
5. Enjoy!

It really is super quick, easy and tasty. The extra 5 min in the morning mean the world to me so as I mentioned I make it the night before, adding some lemon juice stops it all from going brown.

I'm really keen to try some other smoothie recipes please leave any links you have in the comment section.
