Afternoon Tea With Laura Ashley

I had the pleasure of participating in a quintessential tradition in a quintessential setting. Laura Ashley kindly invited me to afternoon tea at the Laura Ashley Manor Hotel in Elstree.
Our day started with a bus ride, nothing out of the ordinary, however this was no ordinary bus. We were greeted with the a fantastic vintage bus. Once we'd got our obligatory pictures out the way it was all aboard!
The Manor House makes a big first impression. The stunning period building welcomed us with open arms, set against 10 acres of beautiful countryside and woodland. Once inside we were led to the Cavendish restaurant that has stunning views of the woodlands and luxurious decor.
I'm not a big tea drinker, I love a pot of something herbal or fruit infused but tradition breakfast tea has never been my thing. However as they say "when in Rome", I had my first cup of tea in possibly 20 years and to be fair it wasn't to bad! I think my eyes may have turned into hearts when the waiters emerged laden with sandwiches, scones, cakes, jam and clotted cream. It was brilliant getting to know the lovely bloggers on my table and having a good old natter over a fresh brew and a scone.
Once our bellies were well and truly full we were given the grand tour of the hotel. The hotel features 49 rooms all of which are individually decorated. Rooms featuring items from Laura Ashley and their bespoke design service. The hotel is full of fantastic historic features from the beams to the grand fireplace rumour has it, the fireplace comes from the Spanish Armada! One of my favourite features was in the garden where I was lured into play with the life size chess set. It was a bit like being in a Harry Potter film!

I had a lovely afternoon at The Manor House and have come away with a new found appreciation for Laura Ashley. I'm now brimming with interior decor ideas.
