In yesterdays post I spoke about my fascination with spike bracelets. Well today I'm making it a reality with this super, quick and easy tutorial.

DIY Inspiration Spiked Bracelets

Every time I log onto Pinterest recently I find myself drawn to searching spikes, spiked bracelets to be precise. I'm not sure why I'm so obsessed with them at the moment, spikes were all the rage last year but at the time I didn't really get on the bandwagon. Typical me always late to the party. I feel like a spiked bracelet would be a really fun and easy DIY to do. Really excited to give this one a try.

Music Monday ~ Yuna

I could listen to Yuna all day, in fact I have been for past few days! I came across her music by accident (a very happy accident indeed), while browsing Youtube I spotted her video I Wanna Know two lines in and I was hooked. I Wanna Know struck me as the perfect sound track to an easy summer day.

Born and raised in Malaysia Yuna has a strong following in the far east, this on the up songstress was catapulted to further notoriety when she was spotted by Indie-Pop Management. Soon after a record deal with Fader label and the release of her debut US EP Decorate followed. That was in 2011, since then this lady has gone from strength to strength, with her debut self titled album features production from Pharrell released last year. The thing I love most about her is the laid back effortless feel of her music. Yuna's voice is so melodic that I couldn't  help but allow it to carry me away.

I've been a bit greedy and featured two tracks (I just couldn't decide on just one)  her cover of Frank Ocean's "Thinking About You" and Live Your Life.

Also can I just say this girls seriously knows how to rock a head wrap!

So what do you think?

The weather was amazing the day I shot this outfit perfect for bbq's, Pimms and ice cream. And thats just what I did. I spent the whole day lazing around in the garden eating sticky chicken, sipping on Pimms and as you can see eating ice cream.

I made this top a few weeks ago with relaxed days like this one in mind. I quite liked the fact that despite the lace obviously being see through it didn't feel too bare. I teamed the top with a simple pair of green skins and a vintage bag. The belt is a really old one thats been knocking around my wardrobe for years, I got it from Primark and it's still good as new.

Head over to my youtube channel for a tutorial on how to make this top.

So while I've been on my little blog hiatus I've done a little shopping. I tried to have a modicum of self discipline and not buy everything I liked this month, but there were a few little bits I just couldn't allow to pass me by.

I featured these mirrored sunglasses from New Look in this post, ever since I've been thinking about them. they were such a great bargain at only £4.99 it would have been almost rude not to buy them. I'd also been on the look out for a simple black cami top that I could dress up or down, once again New Look came to my rescue.

How beautiful is this necklace and how fun is the bag both from H&M. I've already decided that their both coming with me on my summer holiday this year. I know the bag probably won't see the light of day come the colder weather so I'm going to get lots of wears out of it now.

I have a haul video I filmed of stuff I bought last month (nothing I've featured in this post is in the haul video) I've been meaning to put it up for a few weeks. I promise it's on it's way, as they say........ watch this space!

DIY Lace Peplum Top

A few weeks ago I did this post about lace tops well in true WRM style I'm following it up with a tutorial on how I made the top. This is still a really straight forward technique, but it's better and quicker if you have a sewing machine.

I'm planning on doing a "how I styled" it type of post soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Let me know what you think of the tutorial and if you give it a go making your own peplum top.

Music Monday ~ Robin Thicke Blurred Lines

robin thick blurred lines, robin thick, blurred lines, music, music monday

It's been so long since I did a "Music Monday" post there are two reasons for that i) I didn't feel inspired or like there was a particular song or artist that I was especially loving enough ii) as mentioned in yesterdays post work has been crazy and I had very little time to blog. That said Music Monday is back with a serious jam.

Today I'm talking about Blurred Lines by crooner Robin Thicke featuring rapper TI & Pharrell (boy gets around doesn't he?). I've been a Robin Thicke fan for some time ever since I heard "Lost Without You" way back in my uni days, since then his music has stuck with me. The funk and r&b collaboration made me want to dance. The beat was just begging me to bust a groove it started with tapping my fingers, which quickly spread up my arms to a full blown shoulder shimmy, before I knew it I was swaying my hips. I have to admit I did get several sideways glances on my morning tube journey!

I was in two minds about featuring the original video for this as it pretty raunchy. In the end the good girl in me won out and I've gone for the more modest version performed on The Graham Norton (how cool are Hayden Panettiere's dance moves by the way?). If you've not seen it already and want to know what all the fuss is about, the original version is here.

Ok so tell me what you think?

Dear Weekend

So I know I've been MIA for the last few weeks but as usual work got in the way (darn you pesky job!). No seriously I do enjoy my job but at times it sucks when going out to earn a crust gets in the way of my beloved blog. Take last week for instance, I worked 7 days strait had no time to do anything apart from sleep, eat and go to work. After a pretty stressful week all I wanted to do this weekend was kick back and enjoy. It also felt like an age since I spent any real time with the Mr. It's been brought to my attention that a good-bye peck on the cheek or a text to say hi does not count as quality time - oops! With that in mind and my camera in hand yesterday we ventured into London for a bit of exploring.

First stop was the world famous Borough Market. Lee had never been so I was determined to show him what he was missing. Once we stepped under the infamous arches it was like walking into food heaven. We'd only been there a matter of minutes when Lee spotted a Biltong stall and pulled me over. Ever the thoughtful soul he bought some for his brother knowing how much he likes it. After browsing what felt like every stall our tummies began to grumble impatiently. In true Borough Market style we headed for the nearest burger joint. I went for good old British beef while Lee opted for the mint and lam. In that moment of hunger this burger tasted like the best thing ever!

We got a little carried away looking at all the amazing stalls and didn't realise the time. We had booked tickets at the Electric Cinema for the 2pm showing of "Man Of Steel". Cue a mad dash across the road back to the station and then across town to Portobello Road.

We were a tad late for the showing and every one had already taken their seats, so yeas we were the annoying people shuffling along mumbling our apologies. If you've never been to the Electric, then you're missing out, it truly is a beautiful cinema and kicks Oden and Vue cinema butt! Think couches and armchairs with cushions, side tables with lamps, day beds and a bar! Not wanting to give away any spoilers all I'm going to say is the film was pretty good. If you're into comic book super hero movies then I reckon you'll love this.

Once again our tummies began to rumble and another pit stop to refuel was in order. My first choice was Burger and Lobster unfortunately the hour and a half waiting list for a table put us off. Instead we hot footed it down the road into Piccadilly heading for Hix. Nestled in a trendy side street away from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly is Hix. It's quite easy to miss but look for the neon flashing light and the very grand door. Thankfully we were able to get a table for two with no fuss. Now no judgement is allowed here we were both hungry and love good food so we really went in and ordered (what felt like) loads of food and it was all absolutely delicious. our waiter forgot our starter of crackling, a gentle reminder and a portion was brought to our table. As a really generous gesture for forgetting our crackling, we were given complimentary jelly and cream served in little shot glasses.

For starter we both went for the duck salad

for the main it was lam for the mr and lobster for me

just couldn't resist a portion of fries

our jelly and cream shots

desert was epic

as you would expect from any conscientious  fashion blogger the obligatory OOTD

So that's this weekend pretty much wrapped up, until next time.....

Recently I've shared my inspiration, a how to tutorial and now the way I like to style cut out tops for a casual smart look.

I love how versatile this look is team it with a pair of converses and its more of a laid back day time look. Equally I've dressed it up a little with heels and a clutch for a more casual smart evening vibe. Think this would be perfect for drinks with friends or even a date. In fact it's been a little while since the Mr took me on a date, now I have an outfit I'm going to drop some date night hints so I can show this bad boy of an outfit off.

What do you think guys? Anyone else tempted to give the cut out look a try?
