Argan Oil v Argan Oil

Hollywood Beauty Aron Oil (from local hair shop) £5.00 ~ Moroccan Oil Treatment £ 12.85 (Feel Unique)

Argan Oil has been on the beauty scene for ages. It's featured on every other blog and in all the magazines. I thought I would add my two pence.

I've been trying both the Hollywood Beauty and the Moroccan Oil Treatment versions for a few months now and wanted to do a bit of a comparison.
You know that old saying size matters? Well it's true, it really does. Both bottles are quite small but you can see in the first pic just how small the the Moroccan Oil Treatment is compared to the Hollywood Beauty version. When you put this with the rather hefty price tag (£12.85 for 25ml compared to £5.00 for 88.7ml for the Hollywood Beauty) it' hard to justify purchasing the Moroccan Oil Treatment. I'm not going to lie I was initially put off by this. But I'd heard so many good things about it and wanted to give it a try.

I'm really particular about my hair and the products I use on it as I have a fear of breakage! To keep my hair healthy it's needs daily moisture. That said I hate my hair to feel overly greasy. With these products being an oil, I was a little concerned that I'd end up with a seriously greasy head of hair. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I applied both oils to my hair, my locks weren't left feeling overly oily but more silky instead.

I tend to use a few drops of Caster Oil in my hair when washing it, to give it a bit of a treatment and some extra moisture. I decided to replace it with the Argan Oil instead, it was brilliant! I found the Caster Oil would make my hair a bit sticky even after washing it out. I didn't experience this at all with the Argan Oil in fact my hair was super easy to blow dry and to get the knots out.

I'm really fussy when it comes to smells and hate over powering scents. I have to say I didn't love the Hollywood Hair fragrance I found it a bit too sweet. Where as the Moroccan Oil Treatment seemed to get the balance just right. Fragrance is a very personal thing so I'm sure others would disagree.

It's really hard to say which product has the edge as their pretty balanced with pro's and con's. The Hollywood Hair version is much better value for money while the Moroccan Oil Treatment smells amazing and has nicer packaging. Basically I'm torn, the bargain hunter in me would go for the Hollywood Hair but I do love a little bit of luxury.

Have you tried either of them? Which one would you go for?

  1. Thank you for this review! I was wondering if there really was a difference, so now I won't feel bad buying the cheaper version!

  2. Yeah, argan oil is amazing for hair, I have Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil which I found to be higher quality and it's done the job really well! I understand what the fuss is all about now :)

  5. Thanks so much. This was really helpful!

  6. Moroccan oil is famous in skin care and hair care, but it is an excellent addition to cooking. Pure argan oil has many health benefits including a high vitamin E content and a variety of essential fatty acids. It is traditionally used in the cuisine of the indigenous Berber tribes in Morocco, and they also know about its health-giving and medicinal properties.Argan oil health benefits
