Music Monday ~ Wynter Gordon

Wynter Gordon has forged a name for herself as a noted song writer and credible dance music recording artist. She has written for some the heavy weights in modern music. Contributing to “Gonna Breakthrough,” a song from Mary J. Blige‘s Grammy Award-winning album, The Breakthrough. Gordon also wrote and featured on Flo-Rida's 2009 track "Sugar".
Her most recent offering, "With The Music I Die" is an unapologetic in your face Dance EP, full of catchy Ibiza tracks. Track no 2 Buy My Love is my personal favourite. There is something about Wynta Gordon that distinctly reminds me of Gwen Stafani.

The track that really interests me though is Stimela (this ones not on the album). It's miles away from the dancy offerings you come to expect from Gordon. The soulful hypnotic melody just takes your breath away. Stimela is a sample of Hugh Masekela song of the same name. Hugh's version is about the working classes, during the South African apartheid. The lyrics are in Zulu, and speak of the train that migrant workers took to work during that era.

Stimela is an outstanding track that showcases Gordon's incredible vocals. Have a listen and let me know you think.
